SPECIALISTS IN GAS DESIGN, INSTALLATION & CONNECTION
Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
We can provide hydrostatic testing services for stage 1 evaluation of high pressure gas pipelines, including the delivery of water via tankers, dewatering and drying, together with full data logging and analysis of this initial soundness testing stage. We undertake pressure testing on PE and metallic pipelines using industry sector preferred test methods and offer hydrostatic and pneumatic testing methods to prove the integrity of your new main.

GAS:
A hydrostatic test is a way in which pressure vessels such as pipelines, can be tested for strength, tightness & and leaks, this will expose any defective joints, material or workmanship and ensure the pipeline can operate at the designed pressure. The test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid, usually certified clean water, which may be dyed to aid in visual leak detection, and pressurisation of the pipeline to the specified test pressure. The pressure test specification will be either the gas industry standard or a client specification. Pressure tightness can be tested by shutting off the hydrostatic test head and observing whether there is a pressure loss. The location of a leak on above ground pipework can be visually identified more easily if the water contains a colorant. Strength is usually tested by measuring the data electronically with data logging devices and a chart recorder, this information in analysed live while the vessel or pipeline is under test and a result is known immediately. All data recorded in a test pack report then saved and passed to the client for their records.
Hydrostatic testing is the most common method employed for testing pipes and pressure vessels. Using this test helps maintain safety standards and durability of a vessel over time. Newly manufactured pieces are initially qualified using the hydrostatic test and are then re-qualified at regular intervals should the client specify this using the proof pressure test which is also called the modified hydrostatic test. Testing of pressure vessels for transport and storage of gases is very important because such containers can explode if they fail under pressure.
